About the role


The People and Culture Assistant will support the Head of People and Culture in various aspects of HR administration, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and office management.

You will also oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the office, responsible for managing and supporting various administrative functions, ensuring smooth office operations, and creating a welcoming and positive work environment for our employees.

You'll help make sure the workplace is running smoothly and that our employees are getting the support they need.

This role will be primarily in-office so you will spend time working from our Ottawa office, located in Centretown on Cooper Street

  • Be the gatekeeper of our HR department by supporting the Head of People and Culture with recruiting efforts, including posting new roles, screening resumes, scheduling interviews.
  • Coordinate the onboarding for new employees including preparing offer letters, and scheduling new hire orientation sessions.
  • Manage HR administrative tasks, such as maintaining personnel files, processing new hire paperwork, and ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of training and development programs.
  • Coordinate with other departments to support crossfunctional projects and initiatives.
  • Put together amazing events, including booking venues, coordinating travel arrangements, and managing logistics.
  • Support the Head of People and Culture with special projects and initiatives, like training and development programs and employee engagement surveys.
  • Spread the love by planning employee recognition and appreciation initiatives to boost morale and hype up our team.
  • Bring people together by organizing teambuilding activities and events.
  • Be our secret keeper by maintaining accurate and uptodate employee records.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detailoriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Enthusiasm for learning about HR practices and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
  • You must be enrolled in your university's COOP program to be eligible for this opportunity.
  • You must be available from January 8, April 28, 2024 for this internship.
