Established in 1836 in Quebec, Canada, Bishop's College School (BCS) is an IB World School offering the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and certificates. With a campus bordered by farmland
and rolling hills on one side and by the city of Sherbrooke on the other, BCS is a small, welcoming

We are currently hiring for the part-time position of Library Technician beginning in August 2023.

Responsibilities include
A. Administrative


  • Ensure that library facilities are arranged for maximum accessibility of materials and ease of
supervision of students

  • Schedule and maintain the booking of classes for research, book talks, workshops and
academic support and supervision

  • Assist the Librarian in the training and supervision of library staff (library assistants)
  • Contribute positively to classroom management within the library space
B. Reference

  • Assist the Librarian with class presentations
  • Assist individual students with research needs in completing projects and assignments
  • Sign books and materials in and out of circulation for teachers and students
C. Curricular


  • Work with the Librarian to present workshops to students regarding library orientation,
stewardship, academic honesty and research skills


  • Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to effective library use
  • Help to encourage and inform faculty and staff to utilize the library's resources
D. Collection Development


  • Ensure the collection is well-maintained, accessible, orderly, and attractive
  • Help to maintain a diverse and supportive library collection
  • Work with the Librarian to intake new books and materials, maintain the current collection
(curating, shelving, circulation), and cull/weed outdated materials

E. Technical Responsibility

  • Catalogue materials according to professional standards
  • Maintain up to date catalogues and records
  • Arrange the collection systematically
  • Keep up to date with online resources, databases and their use

Les responsabilités comprennent:
A. Administratif


  • Veiller à ce que les installations de la bibliothèque soient aménagées de manière à assurer une
accessibilité maximale aux documents et à faciliter la supervision des étudiants.

  • Programmer et maintenir la réservation des classes pour la recherche, les conférences sur les livres,
les ateliers et le soutien et la supervision académiques.
