Job Summary
This position receives and delivers supplies, appliances and furniture to a variety of locations; assists with maintaining inventory levels; assists with repairs or servicing equipment, and assembles furniture as required.
Reports to the Tool Crib/Stores Operator. Works with a variety of on-and-off campus co-workers, suppliers and customers.
Work Performed
- Receives deliveries and checks all items against purchase order or packing slip. Reports discrepancies or unsatisfactory items to their supervisor.
- Unloads products at warehouse via forklift, palletjack or by hand
- Assembles orders for campus units, including cleaning supplies, paper products, and other goods.
- Ensures parts for trades/service workers are signed out correctly
- Assists with maintaining accurate records of stock issues, deliveries, and equipment signed out
- Assists with inventory and stock control systems. Assists in maintaining adequate stock levels and reports any discrepancies to their supervisor.
- Assembles new equipment and furniture as required
- Picks up or delivers supplies, appliances, and furniture as needed to and from campus locations.
- Securing loads inside truck
- Assists with repairs and services janitorial equipment (vacuums, pressure washer, moving carts etc...)
- Work in a correct, safe manner, and is trained in regard to all necessary safety and environmental regulations, standards, practices and procedures. Ensures safety practices are in compliance with applicable building codes, WorkSafeBC regulations, UBC Student Housing and Hospitality Services policy and UBC policy.
- Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
This position requires making decisions related to equipment assembly and maintenance, and inventory procedures. Failure to assemble or maintain equipment to standard may result in the injury of workers. Failure to report inventory discrepancies may result in a negative financial impact on the operation.
Supervision Received
Reports to the Tool Crib/Stores Operator.
Supervision Given
None. May assist in training of new workers.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
High School graduation. Completion of grade 12, education in equipment assembly and maintenance or combination of experience and education. Comfortable using inventory and stock control software systems. Experience with data entry and intermediate computer skills are required. Experience using forklifts and pallet jacks. Safe Truck Lift Operation Certificate. 1 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of stock inventory systems. Ability to assemble and maintain furniture. Valid class 5 driver's license.
Ability to lift and lower a maximum of 50 lbs and an average of 35 lbs to all levels.
Ability to carry (two handed) maximum of 50 lbs and an average of 35 lbs over 2-5 feet
Ability to push / pull (two handed) up to approximately 40 kg of force and an average of 5-20 kg lbs).
