Why is this role important?

In this role you will be working on health workforce modeling and forecasting to enable CIHI to leverage existing data, build modelling expertise, and explore innovative ways to model health workforce supply, demand and gap. As a coop student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support this initiative for our department, that help drive CIHI's overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This unique opportunity will expose you to areas of modelling and forecasting, stakeholder engagement, health workforce information.
What you'll do
Environmental scans, summarize content
Collaborate, communicate with team and stakeholders
Develop and document standard operating procedures
Assist with the preparation and validation of custom data requests, using technical tools such as R programming and Python
Coordinate, collaborate, communicate, monitor, report and document activities
Actively participate in problemsolving and execute solutions

What you'll bring to the table

Working towards an undergraduate or a graduate (public health, economics, math, health sciences, statistics, epidemiology) degree requiring coop as part of educational requirement
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders both verbally and written
Initiative driven and gogetter attitude
Selfmotivated, high attention to detail, good problemsolving skills
Knowledge of statistical modelling and forecasting is an asset
Python or R programming experience is an asset
The ability to communicate in French is an asset
