Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Assistant IT Manager will be responsible for supporting and managing technology infrastructure throughout our facility.

The Assistant IT Manager will be responsible for performing software installations, assisting in setting up and maintaining the day-to-day IT Operations for Ripley's Aquarium of Canada.

The Assistant Manager will collaborate closely with the IT Team and other departments to ensure the smooth operation of all IT-related functions, including attraction system management, ticketing systems, and POS solutions.


Please remember that due to the nature of our business, we work when others play in an attraction that is open 365 days of the year You will be expected to be regularly available to work any shift during, before or after these hours of operation.

Critical Accountabilities:


  • Maintain the daytoday operations of IT and provide technical support. This will include Point of Sale (POS) ticketing systems, set up of computers, telecommunication devices, networks and other IT devices/systems.
  • Assist in supervising and guiding the IT support team, ensuring their effective performance, skill development, and adherence to IT policies and procedures.
  • Create the IT team schedules to adequately support the RAC's operations.
  • Assist in planning, executing, and managing IT projects, including upgrades, installations, and migrations, while ensuring mínimal disruptions to operations.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks, computer workstations, connections to the internet and peripheral equipment.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and integration of the entire RAC ticketing system including sales (onsite and online), admissions, access control and exit. This includes all hardware and software components.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and IT industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate documentation of IT systems, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Demonstrate discretion and confidentiality with data, software licenses, sales, revenues, and other company related information.
  • Stay up to date and ensure that software licensing laws are adhered to.
  • Monitor performance of computer systems and networks.
  • Coordinate access and use of computer networks with our corporate office.
  • Create user accounts and support users in accessing network resources.
  • Prioritize regularly scheduled service activities along with urgent unscheduled support requests with a high level of responsiveness.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of IT services and resolution of issues.
  • Maintenance of all RAC interactives and audiovisual equipment.
  • Provided IT support during regular operations, meetings, special events and programs.

Special Skills and Requirements:


  • College or University degree with a major in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in IT support, system administration, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving IT issues.
  • Understanding of configuration changes and their up/down stream impacts.
  • Excellent problemsolving and analytical abilities.
  • Attention to detail, data integrity and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Selfstarter and ability to follow and work under general direction.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Work Environment:


  • Willingness to be oncall for addressing urgent IT issues outside of regular working hours.
  • Ability to work different shifts, including weekends, as needed for IT operational support and project demands.
  • May be required to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, or visits to other company locations.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
