The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women,
girls and children at risk, involved in nor affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break
the cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.
We are looking for a
Property Maintenance worker for the summer. The position will provide 10 weeks
paid employment from June 17, 2024, to August 30, 2024.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain grounds of residential programs assigned in neat and orderly conditions including extract
dispose of trash.
- Provide care for plants and shrubs, fertilizing, feeding plants and spreading topsoil if necessary.
- Plant and maintain the landscaped areas as assigned, including mow grass, rake, mulch, and
- Understands and can operate the necessary equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, sod
- Water lawns, plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
- Assist with indoor maintenance such as minor repairs and other general maintenance works.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- This is a Canada Summer Jobs Position and applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age at
- Have experience in landscaping and demonstrate proficiency and experience in lawncare using a
SKILL & ABILITIES:
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of Horticulture, Landscaping and/or Agronomy.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations of landscaping.
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time.
- Proficient in MS word, excel, outlook and data entry.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS:
- Occupational First Aid Certificate required
- Doctor's note of fitness required
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Review (Vulnerable Sector Search)
- Applicant with valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
