Job Summary:


The Access2English (A2E) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the daily operations of the A2E program, including staffing, program planning, budgets, payroll, resource management, proposal & report writing, and stakeholder relations.

In addition, the A2E Supervisor collaborates with internal programs to manage the site's space, security, walk-in/out traffic, technology, supplies, and equipment maintenance.


Your Role:

Archway's A2E Supervisor with the Access2English (A2E) Program contributes by:

  • Providing support, leadership, direction, and supervision to the Access2English direct reports, including performance evaluation, training, and feedback.
  • Overseeing the daytoday operations for the formal language training and adult tutoring programs, including oversight in the training of new tutors and/or learners and learners' progress.
  • Directing the registration of clients for language instruction classes and ensuring the waitlist is managed according to relevant policies.
  • Guiding the data development system and administration, including database management and tracking systems to track client data.
  • Advocating for and representing the A2E Program at forums, meetings, events, and outreach activities with other language/literacy related community groups, agencies, and organizations.
  • Collaborating and building relationships with Langley, Chilliwack, and Mission community service organizations in the provision of language services for refugee claimants and other clients eligible for language training services.
  • In collaboration with Marketing and Communications, updating the A2E website and developing promotional materials.
  • Creating, managing and updating the program budgets efficiently, ensuring appropriate allocation of funds to meet funder requirements.
  • Writing grants and funding proposals to support A2E operational requirements.
  • Ensuring quarterly reports and other reports required by the funder and the agency are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.

Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized college or university relevant to ESL and/or literary fields, or a combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered.
  • TESL Certification is an asset.
  • Significant experience working with adult learners, including ELLs.
  • Experience teaching English as an additional language.
  • Experience in program coordination.
  • Experience in supervision.
  • Experience in managing a budget.
  • Experience working with volunteers an asset.

  • Strong verbal, written, and active listening communication skills; able to communicate clearly and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and varying levels of English.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Skilled at managing performance, setting goals, and creating autonomy and accountability.
  • Skilled at providing feedback and coaching to others.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of effective coaching, mentorship and relationship building practices.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint to create reports, presentations, and communication with staff and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and ability to use database programs.
  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • This position has a high degree of distractions and competing priorities, requiring the ability to effectively switch tasks.
