Our four-diamond 500 all-suites hotel, Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre and Spa is seeking a versatile individual to fill the position of Maintenance Supervisor:
Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the coordinating and supervising the work of employees in the general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- To understand and to work in compliance with all legislative and regulatory standards set out by the province and city
- Coordinates, supervises and follows up with concerns such as painting, plastering and repairs to floors, walls, ceilings including furniture refinishing and repairs as assigned
- Ensure daily inspection of all essential equipment and systems are completed as per requirements
- Schedules, performs, supervises & follows up with preventative maintenance assignments
- Ensure all work order are completed efficiently and in an acceptable time frame
- Participates in duties associated with inventory control including purchasing, receiving, distributing and updating supply documentation for all departments
- Perform weekly inventory of furnishings, equipment and supplies
- Coordinates custodial duties
- Ensures completion of regular fire prevention inspections, monthly extinguisher checks and fire drill duties and responds to calls relating to building fire prevention and safety, including operations of communication equipment to convey work conditions and safety directives
- Protects own health and safety and health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant inservices regarding occupational health and safety
- 5 years of previous hotel and or building maintenance experience
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical an asset
- Experience working/supervising unionized staff and understanding a Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Good verbal and written communication skills and personal initiative to lead and motivate a team
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Physically capable of performing all assigned duties within a flexible work schedule required for a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week operation
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook is essential
- Must be neat, tidy and wellorganized at all times
