We are recruiting for a permanent full-time
Housing Subsidy Specialist to facilitate meaningful and appropriate Community Rent Subsidy allocations to individuals and families assessed at low and moderate acuity levels in an effort to secure affordable housing for those at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

This Specialist will engage and maintain subsidy related contacts with landlords and property management companies to facilitate permanent and stable housing, ensuring all required agreements are fully executed with full compliance by all parties.


Compensation package:


  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours/day for a total of 37.5 hours per week;
  • Annual pay range is $60,489 to $68,484;
  • Flexible working arrangements with the option to work remotely up to 40% of the time;
  • 11 paid statutory holidays;

Following the successful completion of a 3-month probationary period:

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Services in combination with relevant experience, or a diploma or degree in Business with a focus on sales and marketing; or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities, as deemed acceptable by the Agency;
  • Minimum 2 years' recent fulltime experience in building and implementing marketing plans, working with social services, or experience working in the housing or homeless sector;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Housing First principles, guidelines, and related housing concepts, acts and regulations;
  • Knowledge of rental market trends and experience in facilitating training and information sharing sessions;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, administrative, organizational and time management skills, with the proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team;

Special factors:


  • Have strong presentation, written and verbal skills;
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as necessary;
  • Be prepared to work throughout Simcoe County;
  • A valid G class driver's license and own reliable transportation is required;

Duties and responsibilities (included, but not limited to):

  • Ensure all related parameters of the Community Rent Subsidy Program are being adhered to by recipients and landlords;
  • Engage and recruit landlords to participate in a Housing First model; ensuring education and information sharing clarifies the intent of the Community Rent Subsidy Program;
  • Assist in planning and implementation of marketing strategies related to the subsidy;
  • Initiate new and facilitate ongoing relationships with local landlords, property owners, property managers, realty companies;
  • Proactively work with landlords and specialized housing teams to identifying barriers and gaps in service needs to develop and maintain safe and affordable rental housing options;
  • Coordinate with housing employees to facilitate eligibility of the Community Rent Subsidy, including low and moderate acuity requirements;
  • Monitor participant for continued eligibility for subsidy specific to household income, geography, and terms of the Participation Agreement;
  • Organize and/or facilitate workshops and information sessions for landlords, property owners and managers of property management companies around the Community Rent Subsidy Program, landlord engagement and related housing concepts;
  • Maintain timely, thorough, and accurate case notes and enter and maintain relevant data system(s);
  • Participate in and contribute at community tables, committees and working groups, as appropriate and necessary.
