Centre for Sexuality is a community-based organization that provides access to non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services and support.
We are hiring one amazing counsellor to join our motivated team with a mission to normalize sexual health in Alberta.
C4S's counselling is for individuals, couples, and families who reside in Alberta and are seeking support around a topic related to sexual health, healthy relationships, sexuality, or gender.
Our counselling program utilizes solution-focused approaches that recognize the inherent strengths and resources a client has to meet their goals.
Priority for support services is given to individuals from populations and communities with a history of systemic marginalization, exclusion, discrimination, and/or who experience multiple barriers to accessing other counselling and support services, or for whom there are few or no qualified services available.
This could include 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and their families, people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, their natural supports, families and/or support workers, youth and their natural supports and families, and adults who are experiencing barriers to accessing services and supports related to STI diagnosis and support and pregnancy options counselling.
- Schedule and provide oneonone counselling, education, and referrals to clients, addressing their identified goals both in person and virtually.
- Participate in creating and administering new approaches or services to enhance capacity for counseling professionals and community members around sexual health, healthy relationships, sexuality, and gender.
- Commit to solutionfocused, strengthsbased, and natural supports framework for counselling, ensuring a positive and empowering client experience.
- Participate in internal and external community engagement activities, forming partnerships to promote programs and build connections with potential community partners.
- Provide a comfortable, caring, and supportive environment for all clients to explore topics related to their sexual wellbeing and the development of healthy relationships.
- Maintain uptodate and accurate client notes and files.
- Create and maintain supportive referral lists to meet the unique needs of clients and their families/natural supports.
- Stay current on trends, research, and best practices in the field of sexual and reproductive health and counseling.
- Conduct evaluations and administer program performance measures and surveys required by C4S and its funders.
- Participate in the Community Connect YYC Community of Practice, engage in cocounseling with internal and external staff, and maintain positive relations with partners and community organizations.
- Promote the Centre for Sexuality's program and services.
- Follow policy and procedures regarding time tracking, time off requests, program supplies, expenses, and requesting and participating in professional development opportunities.
- Engage in ongoing program evaluation through timely data entry of client evaluations.
- Maintain and update program theory of change in partnership with manager and/or team lead.
- Communicate with the Manager in a timely manner regarding high priority and sensitive items, including delay in meeting deliverables, partnership challenges, etc.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, organizational commitment, accountability, and community engagement, adhering to ethical codes, advocating for clients, and contributing to a positive working environment.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Master's degree in social work, and/or other related helping profession.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience providing counselling services.
- Experience with solution focused counselling and DBT skills would be an asset.
- Follow ACSW Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

- Ability to travel including having a driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle and minimum level of $2,000,000 inclusive insurance limit, for bodily injury and property damage. Some clients request meetings at other community organizations and counselor must be able to travel.
