Position Description:


Clinical Research Project Coordinator


The Canadian Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN) is looking for a Clinical Research Project Coordinator, with an expertise in Organization and logistics, and an interest in Data Management.

To work in the context of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Research Centre at The Hospital for Sick Children.


The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN) is a national network funded by the ChILD Foundation, involving 12 academic centers across Canada, SickKids being the lead site.

CIDsCaNN aims to undertake patient-based research to understand why Inflammatory Bowel Disease is increasing among children living in Canada, and to define the best therapies for subgroups of patients.


Here's What You'll Get to Do:

You will work in a multi-disciplinary research team that serves the data-analysis and management needs of The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network and many of the collaborators across Canada.


Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Responsible for the physical storage of specimens; and contribution to the ongoing development of the online sample management system (CentraXX)
  • Responsible for auditing and shipping supplies
  • Assist with the management and manipulation of large amounts of data using a Microsoft Access database; creating reports/presentations using this data
  • Assist with the manipulation of data using SPSS
  • Assist with the maintenance and ongoing development of the Network's clinical data collection system (REDcap), and the online interactive management platform (Zoho)
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of data queries using MS Access and SPSS to participating sites in order to ensure data completeness and quality
  • Quickly learn and understand various research projects within the Network: In order to provide guidance and respond to questions from the many centers participating in these projects
  • Be a part of a team working with other teams on designing and implementing best practices for operations and monitoring
  • Involvement in other ongoing studies as directed by the Director of the DCC and the Data Manager

Here's What You'll Need:


  • Postsecondary degree in sciences, social sciences or a healthrelated discipline
  • At least 12 years of professional experience
  • Knowledge of MS Access and SPSS
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a large team
  • Ability to work onsite for a minimum of 4 out of 5 days per week
  • Desirable: knowledge of REDCap database tools, manipulation, and creation
  • Desirable: Previous experience in research
  • Desirable: Experience with database creation, manipulation, and online data presentation

Employment Type:
Full-time (1-year contract, with the possibility of extension)
