What is the Opportunity?


As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Business Analyst shall be accountable for assisting the Associate Director in managing the business requirements, software development, maintenance and operation of Enterprise Risk's data-centric Applications including IFRS9, CECL, ERDL, WCRD, SLASE, SLGRD, LGDE, LEF, IDH, ESN and others as they may be inherited and/or developed.


Working closely with the business and Risk Report owners, the Business Analyst is a problem solver who can understand credit risk business requirements and act as a bridge between business and technology teams to translate business requirements into solution design deliverables.

This includes planning and maintaining documentation of current and target states, business and system context diagrams, creating and running data queries, process flow diagrams, data analysis, root cause analysis of issues and their respective resolution.


What will you do?

  • Elicit, analyze and understand business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions
  • Work closely in Agile teams to ensure proper implementation of business solutions
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders and assist in defining product roadmap, maintaining product backlog and defining release cadence
  • Perform data profiling using (e.g. using SQL, Teradata) to validate data analysis and identify/resolve data issues
  • Proactively raise issues to product owners and IT partners as required
  • Ensure solution designs and implementation of new system capabilities align and adhere to the Enterprise Risk policies and regulatory guidelines
  • Create and maintain user and system documentation
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure constructive collaboration and successful delivery of required functionality in support of key risk metric measurement
  • Drive collaboration across key stakeholders to optimize the delivery of Application functions and solutions
  • Participate in the definition and execution of testing strategies and plans

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:


  • Knowledge of financial risk management and credit risk, banking and trading products, and 2+ years of experience in a datacentric environment
  • Ability to provide valuable insight through proven data analysis skills
  • Understanding of data modeling, data mapping and data lineage
  • Experience working with tools like Jira & Confluence
  • Ability to execute priorities with little direction
  • Able to think strategically and leverage information from multiple sources and across the enterprise
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Logical thinker with the proven ability to visualize and think through complex systems and process interdependencies

Nice-to-have:


  • Exposure to more than one of the following risk methodology areas: capital markets and trading, credit risk
  • Familiarity with RBC's existing data and infrastructure is preferred, though not required
