ofi Toronto is currently looking for a
Quality Technician to join our growing team.

If so, this may be the position for you.

Based out of our Rexdale office, the
Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality of products via testing and inspection to meet and/or exceed qualitative and quantitative attributes including sensory, consistency, legality and safety of finished product.

This position will work closely with many different departments within the organization including Commodities, Purchasing, Production, Maintenance, Health & Safety and Sales & Marketing.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conducting regular quality checks on finished goods and entering results into the database
  • Calibrating/cleaning instruments and equipment used for testing purposes on the production floor
  • Maintaining product quality and food safety program practices including BRC, HACCP, QA / QC, GMP, Sanitation and good hygiene practices.
  • Maintain health and safety program practices including safe lifting, lockout/tagout, incident prevention and personal safety practices.
  • Determine disposition for any noncompliant WIP or finished product, or initiate product holds
  • Preparation, sensory and releasing of inprocess products
  • Participate and assist in audits
- includes reporting findings, follow-up on corrective actions

  • Updating & maintaining documentation control
  • Prepare samples for lab testing
  • Investigate customer complaints, and conduct analysis & followups as required
  • Facilitate quality training for staff
  • Other quality tech duties as required to fulfill needs of production

Requirements:

-
Flexibility to work all 3 shifts, changing start times, including weekends


Plus overtime as needed:


  • Food Science Diploma/degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in food manufacturing industry
  • Welldeveloped sensory skills
  • Very detail oriented and can maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Effective decisionmaking and judgement
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Strict adherence to GMP, Food Safety and personal hygiene policies
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills required, including presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze data used in all trending reports
  • Proficient in the use of computer technology including standard software programs such as MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently learn new systems and software in order to automate and analyse information
