A kitchen attendant is an employee of food production services whose function is to clean the kitchen and perform other tasks of a simple nature in order to assist the kitchen staff.

This work function is found in the catering sub-sector.

The businesses most likely to hire workers for this job function are restaurants, hotel dining rooms, fast food outlets, cafes, private clubs, bars, banquet services, caterers, resorts, golf clubs and other catering establishments.


Main tasks

  • Wash and peel fruits and vegetables
  • In fast food restaurants and institutions (hospitals, cafeterias, airline kitchens), fully or partially prepare food or trays
  • Scrub the dishes, fill the dishwasher, wash the dishes, wipe the glasses
  • Sweep and wash the floors
  • Clean preparation surfaces and food storage areas
  • Remove rubbish and trash and empty bins
  • Unpack and store groceries in refrigerators, cabinets, pantries and other storage areas
