Associate Director RxFiles Academic Detailing:


Primary Purpose:

The _RxFiles_ is Saskatchewan's academic detailing service whose mandate is to provide evidence informed, objective, comparative drug information and promote optimal drug therapy.

The service considers available evidence and clinical experience, synthesized into practical information resources.

Information is then delivered to physicians, pharmacists and nurse practitioners via academic detailing discussions, conference presentations and printed/digital educational materials.

You will provide leadership to the RxFiles Academic team.

You will lead by evaluating the situation and identifying future needs of the service to best support providers in care of their patients.

Your focus will be strategic, long term in scope and with consideration for provincial and national factors and opportunities. The annual budget and human resources is a major responsibility.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be critical in providing leadership and training in a variety of drug therapy decision making contexts and networks.

A high level of adaptability, flexibility and organization is required.

In addition to the core academic detailing service offered to Saskatchewan health professionals, RxFiles resources are utilized throughout Canada and internationally.

Providing guidance in the pursuit of select related opportunities will be important in leveraging the output and impact of RxFiles' core service.

The ability to build effective collaborative networks (e.g. with health care professionals in SK, academic detailing services across North America) and oversee program management functions will be critical.


Accountabilities:

- ensures that the vision and goals of RxFiles are determined and supported
- build, recruit and retain an effective team of academic detailers who are geographically dispersed in SK
- coordinate/lead detailer training workshops (academic detailing skills, RxFiles topic upskilling)
- proficient teaching/training skills (e.g. student supervision, small group facilitation, conference presentations)
- value, contribute to, and communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary environment
- commitment to continuing professional development
- provide leadership, plan and carry out responsibilities with mínimal supervision
- provide oversight in budgetary matters and strategic planning
- use vehicle for work related appointments (i.e. academic detailing)

  • Annual measurable goals include:
  • To conduct a productive meeting of the steering committee once yearly
  • To oversee the successful development and launch of 2 or more academic detailing sessions, annually
  • To draft quarterly and annual reports that accurately reflect program reach, impact and financial status
  • To oversee successful execution of any steering committee identified projects/timelines for additional newsletters, Q&As, charts, patient tools, digital information support and RxFiles book publications a) RxFiles Drug Comparison Charts; b) Geri-RxFiles)
  • To successfully network with provider groups education groups in Saskatchewan (e.g. CPSS, CFPC-SK, CME, RN(NP), Pharmacy CPDP) and to support pertinent conferences and initiatives

Qualifications

Education and Experience:


  • Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy. Additional training/experience in research, epidemiology, critical appraisal, knowledge transfer/translation and evidence informed medicine as it relates to drug therapy would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of education/training/experience in a relevant related field
  • Formal training and experience in academic detailing/educational outreach would be a strong asset.
  • Professional qualifications associated with an advanced level of practice in clinical drug therapy decision making would be an asset.

Licenses:


  • Eligible for licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP).

Skills:

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for practical clinical decision making

  • Demonstrated ability to provide balanced discussions of controversial issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated skills in information synthesis and writing including experience in publishing and editing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with physicians, pharmacists and nurses in therapeutic decision making.
  • Experience in mobile and web adaptation of information support would be an asset.
  • Managing a budget and human resources
This position is in scope of the Administrative and Supervisory Personnel Association.

Salary:
The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $83, ,027.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
