ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:


Responsible for the processing of accounts receivable for several long-term care or retirement homes accurately and in a timely manner.


BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS:


  • The incumbent will have accounting training, ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in reviewing and analyzing financial information.
  • Should have an excellent working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and orally, in the English language.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable would be preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Accounts Receivable
Responsible for the full A/R cycle for the assigned homes, including but not limited to:

  • Verify that billing information entered in the system are in accordance with the Financial Control Manual
  • Review all billing information processed in the accounts receivable system for correctness.
  • Provide support to the residences in resolving system issues.
  • Review invoices/statements and related reports, ensuring accuracy.
  • Perform necessary accounts receivable closing procedures for month end.
  • Generate and manage Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)/Pre-Authorized Payments (PAP).
  • Review and approve Resident Refunds, Commissions and Referral Fees for payments.
  • Provide support to the homes in the preparations of the Annual Tax Statements.
  • Other Tasks
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requests with the Finance Team.
  • Support with preparation of annual T5s
  • Help with the onboarding and training of new Finance Team members and new Office Managers
  • Assist with closing off properties when sold or management contracts end.
  • Assist with yearend procedures
  • Provide backup as needed for all accounting departments.
  • Assist with any other tasks that may be assigned
  • Complete all required mandatory training/inhouse education courses.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and contribute to the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) Program
  • Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Insurance Act, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). This includes recognizing health and safety hazards, reporting incidents, fulfilling responsibilities under the applicable legislation, as well as participating in inservices and fire drills.
