    Classification and Salary :
    Maintenance Service Worker 1 (MSW1) Pool Attendant:
    $ $24.22 per hour
    Maintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) Park Maintenance Worker 3:
    $ $30.16 per hour

    For all roles :

    In addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

    • 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays

    • 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

    In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:

    • $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays

    • $2.75 per hour for evenings

    Winagami Lake Provincial Park is located in northern Alberta, the nearest towns being McLennan 26 Km to the North-West, and High Prairie 33 Km to the South-East. The campground has 66 sites, along with a group camping area. The day-use area features a wading pool, boat launch with breakwater, and several kilometers of hiking trails.

    Role Responsibilities

    If you enjoy working outside and are committed to caring for Alberta Park's facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team in the Slave Lake District. We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Maintenance Service Workers for the 2024 summer operating season.

    Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day use areas, campgrounds, facilities and trail systems.

    We are currently looking to hire :

    • Pool Attendants (MSW1) – 2 positions

    • Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3) – 1 position

    As a Pool Attendant (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but not limited to :

    • Opening, Closing and monitoring of the wading pool

    • Maintaining water quality

    • General cleaning of wading pool facility and buildings

    • Answering inquiries from pool patrons

    Duties may include other maintenance tasks in the campgrounds, trails and day use areas, such as :

    • Lawn maintenance and minor repairs of facilities

    • Performing routine custodial and cleaning duties of park facilities

    • Responding to in-person requests for information on area amenities and park conditions, as needed

    • Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment

    • Completing trail and signage projects

    • Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly

    • Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols as well as the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.

    • Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses

    Continued Role Responsibilities

    As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting Park Maintenance Workers with the duties mentioned above in addition to administrative and supervisory tasks such as :

    • Daily operations and maintenance of Winagami Wading Pool to ensure pool water quality is following Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards and keeping the wading pool in good operating condition; testing, balancing and adjusting chemical levels

    • Support the maintenance and pool staff in their day-to-day operations

    • Maintenance of pool equipment room, utility shed and change house

    • Onsite lead for a crew of MSW staff; accountable for direct site operations, and provides input for task scheduling for other staff

    • Assisting with formal inspections, maintenance and servicing of equipment

    • Completes trail maintenance projects

    • Maintains roads and parking lot areas

    • Assists with playground routine inspections and maintenance

    • Installs and removes docks, maintains beaches

    • Operates heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, skid steers, garbage trucks, etc

    • Operates chainsaws, brushsaws and other higher risk equipment

    • Assists with water and wastewater system start-up/shut down

    • Conducting water testing for small water systems

    • Supports the operation of various utility systems in accordance with standards and regulations to ensure safe provision of drinking water and wastewater removal/treatment

    • Conducts purchasing and orders supply inventory within budget

    • Assists with staff training and staff performance reviews

    • Assists with service contract management

    All positions will require you to work various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week and will be paid for number of hours worked. You must have good physical stamina to be able to perform manual duties outdoors and in any type of weather conditions, rain or shine.
