Your Role with Our Team:


CNOOC International's Calgary-based legal department provides legal support to all divisions of the company, including corporate, oil and gas, regulatory and marketing.

The legal department's summer student program is designed to give a law student first-hand experience with the practice of law in all aspects of CNOOC International's operations, in addition to an opportunity to learn about the business of oil and gas in Canada and internationally.

Some of the key responsibilities of the
Legal Summer Student will be:

  • Research and memo writing;
  • Contract drafting;
  • Review and interpretation of legislation and contracts;
  • Litigation support;
  • General assistance with legal matters and client relations.


During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging projects and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term.

You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company.

To succeed, you'll need to cultivate and communicate a clear vision and set goals for yourself, whilst also juggling individual country specific targets.
