We currently have an opening for a
Product line Supervisor for our U-Drain department.

Hours of work:
Monday - Thursday - 6:00 am - 4:30 pm


As the
Product Line Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and continuously monitoring the day-to-day production and quality of the U-Drain product welders.

You will be responsible for ensuring all SOPs related to the U-Drain product line is being followed and completed in a timely manner.


Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Attend daily production meetings and biweekly supervisor meetings
  • Provide supervision and coaching to the U-Drain welders, monitoring their production and ensuring that they are meeting daily numbers by completing daily counts
  • Monitor / review the quality of each Udrain product and send back any product for rework that does not meet Norstar's quality standards
  • Count and keep track of all U-Drain products: in shop inventory, being shipped to Winnipeg for Galvanizing and completed product being returned from Galvanizing
  • Supervise the U-Drain processing function, ensuring that Quality Standards are upheld before releasing product into inventory
  • Provide motivation, support and guidance to employees as required
  • Actively participate and assist with performance management of the U-Drain welding employees, this includes but is not limited to coaching, corrective actions related to ongoing performance issues and performance evaluations
  • Approve employees' time off and vacation requests
  • Strive to increase productivity within the department
  • Ensure that employees perform work safely and that all processes are carried out in compliance Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and various other company policies.
  • Communicate any problems or obstacles to the Plant manager in a timely fashion
  • Create and foster a team atmosphere and encourage a team approach between all employees of Norstar
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Previous experience in a Supervisory / Leadership position, ideally within a manufacturing environment would be a strong asset.
  • Previous experience working within the Agricultural sector would be a strong asset
  • Previous experience working in a welding environment would be an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to make decisions and problemsolve
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Ability to coach and monitor staff
  • Capable of conflict resolution and performance management
  • Can read / understand blue print drawings and follow instructions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal (English)
  • Reliable and possess the ability to work in a fact paced environment
  • Ability to work 10 hour shifts (Monday
  • Thursday 6:00 am 4:30 pm)
  • Able to work in a physically demanding position within a manufacturing environment
  • Own transportation to work
  • Steel toe work boots
