You'll be engaging with business, engineering, architecture, infrastructure, and security leaders during all phases during the build and deployment phases to ensure the solution adheres to the agreed upon technical design and architectural standards.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Leading and growing the DevOps teams and practices as part of the OMERS Pensions Products and Technology team
Being a strong leader, with clear direction and strategy for overall team
Being an advocate of knowledge sharing, completing documentation and ad-hoc presentations
SME of DevOps and Kubernetes practices for all Pensions systems, develop, implement best practices/methodologies for DevOps, Kubernetes, and Cloud architecture
Developing and coordinating PaaS design orchestration, automation, and security to operate at scale
Implementing OMERS Pensions Kubernetes & DevOps strategy and coordinating the adaptation process
Collaborating with Solutions Architecture, Product, Platform Teams and external technology and business stakeholders as well as work on technical evaluations with vendors
Managing operations for all OMERS pensions products
Maintaining and reporting system performance statistics
Implementing procedures for rolling out releases, system updates, service packs, hot fixes, and patches
Ensuring the production environment is stable and taking proactive actions to avoid any issues/outages
Work closely with IT security to monitor privacy and develop incident-response procedures


To succeed in this role, you have:
Strong background and experience in leading, mentoring & guiding high-performing technology teams
Ability to own and influence strategic decisions, direction, and vision for the future

Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.g., horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience, recovery, security, and privacy).

Hands-on experience with envisioning, designing, building, and managing release, code merging and promotion, and CI/CD workflows and tools.
Comprehensive DevOps skills including experience with source, artifact, orchestration, configuration, and secret management in concert with CI/CD pipelines
Demonstrated understanding of core Kubernetes architecture and the extended CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) landscape of tools and services
Strong Implementation experience in public cloud container services (EKS, AKS, GKE) with ability to setup enterprise Kubernetes Strategy
Hands-on experience with major Cloud providers' infrastructure and services (AWS, GCP, Azure) and in hybrid cloud implementation and integration.
Strong understanding of best deployment strategies (Blue/Green, Red/Black, Canary, etc.)
Strong understanding of platform reliability and designing highly available environments in the cloud and implementing best practices such as Active/Active designs
Proficiency in Linux & hands-on experience in Ansible, Terraform and Docker and IAC using them.
Experience with Observability & Monitoring using Cloud Stack, or Datadog, Newrelic, ELK stack etc.
Experience with change & Incident management is desired.
