Position Description


The Human Environment Analyst role is an opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in environmental assessment process and Indigenous engagement in a professional work environment.

The work is project-based and includes analysis, research, and writing for our industry proponent, government, and Indigenous nation clients. You will learn from our experienced team through a combination of one-on-one and team collaborations.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support community engagement and consultation programs.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of communication.
  • Develop succinct meeting notes to support issue identification, tracking and follow up.
  • Support the preparation of materials for community engagement activities and events.
  • Conduct background research and analysis.
  • Support the preparation of Comprehensive Community Plans, Land Use Plans, and Governance Plans.
  • Participate in the development of other technical reports and initiatives related to training and education.
  • Consider and integrate Indigenous Knowledge and Gender Based Analysis Plus (GBA+) within impact assessment frameworks.
  • Support the delivery of highquality reports on time and on budget using education, training, and experience.
  • Support the preparation and writing of proposals.
  • Actively participate in company meetings and functions.
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant science or social science field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research and analysis skills.
  • Familiar with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
  • Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Guided by principles of reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of BC provincial and/or federal environmental assessment legislations and process an asset.
  • Indigenous lived experience an asset.

Working Location


This position is based in either our head office in downtown Victoria, near the Inner Harbour, or in our office in downtown Vancouver, just a couple blocks from Canada Place.
