About the Opportunity:

The Social Worker provides a full range of social work services to patients at acute care facilities.

The Social Worker will provide individual and family counseling; social work consultation and education services for patients admitted to hospital.

The Social Worker will work with community systems at all levels, while recognizing each client's right to self-determination.

The Social Worker will provide psychosocial assessments, intervention and social work collaboration as a member of all acute care hospital based care teams and in our communities.

The Social Worker will assist patients with problem solving; social, emotional, environmental, financial and legal challenges.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Must be registered (or eligible for registration) and a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers (NSASW).
Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) from an accredited and approved School of Social Work/University Program
2 to 3 years' experience in hospital based Social Work practice is required
Must have the ability to work effectively as a team member of an interdisciplinary hospital based health care team and assume positions of leadership as required.
Must possess strong problem solving skills, the ability to think critically and have strong decision making abilities.
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

Hours:

Permanent Part-Time 60%; 45 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives:
