About the Opportunity:

The Social Worker provides a full range of social work services to patients at acute care facilities.

The Social Worker will provide individual and family counseling; social work consultation and education services for patients admitted to hospital.

The Social Worker will work with community systems at all levels, while recognizing each client's right to self-determination.

The Social Worker will provide psychosocial assessments, intervention and social work collaboration as a member of all acute care hospital based care teams and in our communities.

The Social Worker will assist patients with problem solving; social, emotional, environmental, financial and legal challenges.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Must be registered (or eligible for registration) and a member in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers (NSASW).
  • Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) from an accredited and approved School of Social Work/University Program
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in hospital based Social Work practice is required
  • Must have the ability to work effectively as a team member of an interdisciplinary hospital based health care team and assume positions of leadership as required.
  • Must possess strong problem solving skills, the ability to think critically and have strong decision making abilities.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

  • Permanent Part-Time 60%; 45 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives:

- $ $42.06 Hourly
