Scope of the Position

The Crane Operator/Receiver shall be responsible for operating mobile cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.

The Crane Operator/Receiver may be required to use bridge or overhead cranes to lift, move and place plant machinery and materials.

Other responsibilities will include the conducting of routine maintenance work, and the cleaning and lubricating of cranes. Inventory management and vendor relations with shipping companies are essential functions for this position.


Responsibilities:


  • Installs and removes crane booms, extensions and hook blocks
  • Positions crane outriggers assemblies and maneuvers in response to hand signals
  • Installs, rigs and removes crane attachments
  • Determines safe lifting capacities
  • Operates cranes with related attachments
  • Operate mobile cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
  • Perform preoperational inspection and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
  • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning and lubricating cranes
  • Prepare receiving dock to accept incoming product
  • Match product with purchase orders
  • Inspect product to ensure condition with acceptable codes
  • May be required to assist with scheduling freight appointments
  • May lift cases of product according to documented procedures
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking.
  • Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries.
  • Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing off.
  • Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete.
  • Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent, or one year community college
  • Crane Operator Certification
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills
  • Working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting with knowledge of safe lifting methods
  • Knowledge of filling out waybills and bills of landing and international shipments.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude

Salary:
$22.18-$23.68 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

  • Bradford, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
