Job Description:


Reporting to the Digital Learning Environment Strategist (Learning and Teaching Services), the Digital Learning Environment Support Specialist (Tier 1) position provides Digital Learning Environment (DLE) front-line support to Algonquin College educators through assessing, documenting, and fixing problems quickly (whether due to software/technical or user error), and resolutions on first contact whenever possible.


The incumbent will capture feedback from clients on all forms of training and support provided; they will analyze, isolate and solve problems by providing corrective action to user-reported technical problems.

The incumbent will use various troubleshooting tools and techniques as needed, and escalate to Digital Learning Environment Support Specialist (Tier 2) when necessary.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides consulting, technical support, and coaching services;
  • Supports and troubleshoots the AC Online DLE to assist and train faculty with facetoface, hybrid, and fully online educational delivery;
  • When assigned by Supervisor: researches options and alternatives for enhancing the educational effectiveness of the AC Online DLE;
  • Performs other related duties assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year diploma / degree or equivalent in Educational Technology, Computer Science and/or Engineering, Education, or a relevant combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience (or equivalent education) with information technology and/or educational technology field including:
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience supporting and troubleshooting courses in Algonquin College's current Learning Management System (LMS) or other LMS;
  • Equivalent education: relevant 3-year diploma or degree in addition to experience with LMS' and faculty support/training;
  • Recent and up to date experience with the latest educational technologies, eLearning products and Learning Management Systems;
  • Experience in training and support of educational technology.
