(IYSCorps) and Intercultural Youth Microgrant Service Corps (IYMSCorps)

  • Age 152
  • BC Resident
  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee Status

Program Overview:
PICS Intercultural Youth Service Corps (IYSCorps) and Intercultural Youth

Microgrant Service Corps (IYMSCorps) offer exciting and empowering opportunities for youth

aged Our programs provide participants with valuable skills, hands-on experience, and a

chance to make a positive impact on their communities. We are actively recruiting for our

upcoming November and December cohorts.


What's in it:


IYSCorps Program (17-week Program):


  • Attend 5week essential skills training VIRTUAL workshops (4:306:30pm, 3 days a
week)

  • Gain essential life skills, including resume writing, financial literacy, leadership, public
speaking, stress management, project managament, and more

  • Participate in youthled, governmentfunded community projects
  • Choose personalized volunteer placements or communitydriven projects
  • Receive a microgrant of $1,000 to design a project
  • Receive a minimum of 120 volunteer hours

IYMSCorps Program:


  • Participate in a program that offers larger microgrants of up to $3,000 for community
- driven projects

  • No requirement to complete the 5week skills training
  • Receive 120 volunteer hours
  • Access additional program benefits

Previous Participant Project Examples:


  • Put together care kits for children at the hospitals
  • Create a magazine to raise awareness on climate change
  • Organize an ethnic cooking class to promote cultural inclusivity
  • Organize a workshop on mental health
  • Create a magazine for elementary school children to teach them the basics of coding
and raise their interest in the tech industry
