Position Overview:
- Provides golf programs and instruction to participants
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and conducts appropriate golf program for participants following required standards.
- Demonstrates and instructs assigned activities and techniques using established teaching methodology and procedures; provides feedback to participants.
- Modifies programs to accommodate participants with special needs.
- Explains and ensures safety rules, regulations and etiquette governing golf, recreational activities, and the use of equipment are followed.
- Assembles supplies, golf and/or game equipment.
- Integrates inclusion staff, private support workers, and volunteers into programs.
- Completes records and reports including class attendance and accident/incident reports.
- Ensures safe use, condition, and storage of equipment.
- Distributes applicable forms and program information (e.g., course evaluation forms, general information, brochures).
- Adheres to policies and procedures established for City of Kitchener facilities.
- Reviews emergency procedures with participants; follows established procedures during emergencies.
- Responds to participants immediate concerns and/or needs and provides customer service.
- Acts as a liaison between Kitchener Golf and participants.
- Provides first aid as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have equivalent to partial secondary school education and 3 months of related experience.
- Must have some technical and practical training in one or more sport disciplines.
- Current Emergency First Aid certification.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have knowledge of and work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to mitigate risk to self and others.
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
