Position Summary:

The Day Service Team Leader is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, assignment, scheduling, and review of peers' work, quality of programs and services provided, in consultation with the Coordinator of Day Services, while ensuring a healthy and safe environment.

This position provides direct support and assistance to the members including emotional and physical support, along with crisis intervention during their schedule shift.

Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.


Core Role & Responsibilities:


  • Provide daytoday direction, guidance, and workflow supervision, resolving conflict and employee issues
  • Provide feedback, participate in issue investigation, and support the building of an effective team
  • Participate in the orientation, training, of new staff
  • Ensure wise use of member and program resources
  • Communicate necessary information and maintain positive relationships with other agencies and programs
  • Perform administrative duties and ensure the completion and secure storage of all records and documentation
  • Ensure facility is kept in accordance with Policy & Procedure and Health & Safety standards
  • Make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions and procedures
  • Provide transportation to and from various locations
  • Assist in the creation, management and facilitation of individual and group activities and special events
  • Ensure individual's health and medical needs are accurately attended to in a timely fashion
  • Promote independence and encourage decisionmaking
  • Provide support and crisis intervention to members who are struggling with behaviour

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:


  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 (Full or Intermediate) driver license and access to personal vehicle
  • Community College diploma or University degree in the health services or social services field, or equivalent experience in a community based facility
  • At least two year' experience in developmental services
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable
  • Criminal record check
  • Child Abuse Registry check
  • Adult Abuse Registry check
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Certificate in Disability and Community Support is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of intellectual disabilities and experience working in the field is an asset.
  • Able to work in an active physical environment that may require sitting, standing, bending, crouching, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, etc.
  • Physically able to assist with the control of violent and aggressive behaviour by members who may require restraint in crisis situations
  • Able to operate and maintain specialized devices, equipment, and technologies
  • Physically able to lift and transfer member on a regular basis and be able to operate equipment relative to the task

Pay:
$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
