The Lead Purchaser is responsible for the procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by Titan Trailers.

They will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services that meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favorable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.

Responsibilities will include ensuring the availability of all necessary materials required to support the manufacturing process and ensuring adequate stock levels for production requirements.

Provide mentoring, training, guidance and assistance to purchasing team members as needed.

Job Duties*- Identify vendors of materials, equipment or supplies as they relate to the manufacturing of Titan Trailers.

Negotiate purchase contracts and evaluate cost and quality of goods or services
Source the most optimal suppliers to ensure Titan Trailers receives the best product at the best price.
Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials
Review and process claims against suppliers
Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact clients and suppliers to resolve issues.
Analyze inventory needs based on demand trends and inventory levels.
Place purchase orders ensuring flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets production requirements
Maintain data/information/database on all orders that is up to date and provides information for analysis and reporting.
Provide product, storage, lead time and order information to all internal departments as requested.
Prepare and administer bids, requests for quote, requests for proposal, requests for information, and other vendor documentation.
Achieve cost reductions goals through cost reductions and controls
Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the Company.

Requirements:

Progressive experience in a purchasing role a definite asset
Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management, CPP and/or SCMP designation an asset
Working experience in the transport trailer industry an asset
Work experience in international purchasing preferred.
Experience in negotiating agreements with vendors and suppliers to ensure the best pricing, quality and delivery
Experience sourcing commodities
ERP user experience (Global Shop) an asset
Exceptional oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization
Strong computer skills in a Windows environment.
Strong mathematical skills with ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and averages required.
A welldefined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
Excellent time and project management skills.

Work Conditions

Must be flexible and able to work overtime to meet business needs.
Able to work in both National and International purchasing situations
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
