Position Overview:
The English Language Program at The University of Winnipeg is seeking an English as an Additional Language (EAL/ESL) instructor for English in the Workplace (business English) Workshop as part of the Short Term Program.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Course preparation and outline in accordance with Program requirements
- Lesson / lecture preparation
- Attendance management
- Teaching
- Student contact including providing assessment and constructive feedback to students
- Participation in placement testing, staff meetings, orientations and graduation ceremonies
- Preparation and creation of assessments
- Marking and grading
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- TESL Certificate or CELTA required
- Undergraduate degree required
- Minimum 1 year experience designing and implementing activities and exercises addressing different themes and topics related to Canadian workplace or Canadian workplace culture or etiquette
- Knowledge of Canadian workplace culture, professionalism and attitudes
- Knowledge of creating and implementing needs assessments
- Experience providing informal student assessments and formal student evaluation
- Knowledge and experience implementing various classroom management techniques
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and conflictresolution skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of situations
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues of a diverse student body

Preferred Skills:
- Experience instructing resume writing and interview skills considered an asset
- Experience instructing oral and written communication specific to the workplace considered an asset
- Experience instructing common business and workplace vocabulary, idiomatic language and grammar considered an asset
- Experience using online teaching platforms considered an asset
- Knowledge of a language additional to English considered an asset
