Responsibilities:


  • Aid the Controller in directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Responsible for managing the accounting for specific projects that would include invoicing, change orders, and monthly project reports and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting as directed by the Controller.
  • Prepare financial statements monthly, quarterly, and year end packages
  • Prepare remittances for WCB, GST, PST, and Payroll source deductions.
  • Report to top management, as well as external organizations while maintaining the company's accounting systems.
  • Implement financial and accounting changes as directed by the Controller.
  • Work with project managers to ensure that the supporting documentation is accurate and complete for monthly invoicing, including LEMS and daily reports.
  • Maintain project cost reports in accordance with the project budget, identifying any overages and inaccuracies and communicating effectively.
  • Provide coverage for the financial responsibilities of the Controller when the Controller is out of office, including banking and asset management responsibilities.
  • Work with the Controller to establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures.
  • Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision making as directed.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist the Controller in setting the priorities within the finance team.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Coordinate the year end processes.
  • Coordinate customer and government audits.
  • Budgeting and forecasting as directed by the Controller.
  • Other related duties and required or assigned.

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 2+ years of full accounting cycle experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Sage 50 and Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel (advanced tables, functions, formulas, and graphing).
  • Thorough understanding of all relevant Federal, Provincial, and Municipal requirements regarding financial records, tax filing requirements, etc.
  • Must have own form of transportation to and from work (public transit not available to current office location)
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Desired Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of the Heavy Duty Mechanical and Dewatering Industries would be an asset.

$80,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
