Who We Are

SUMMARY
The Painter is responsible for painting walls or other surfaces in accordance with the annual Life Cycle Plan.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Paints surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings or other structures using brushes and paint rollers.
  • Reads work order or receives instructions from Team Lead or Client regarding painting.
  • Prepares surfaces for painting by:
  • Smoothing surfaces with sandpaper
  • Filling nail holes and cracks with plaster
  • Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings
  • Covers surfaces, such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting
  • Participate in the Permission to Work Process required to gain access to specific areas of the annual Life Cycle Plan
  • Follow hospital Infection Control Permit process depending on work area
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

Work Requirements:


  • Must be able and willing to work shifts
  • Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies and processes including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Painter/Decorator or minimum of 5 years of professional commercial painting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to paint, stain and wallpaper
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and calculate material and equipment requirements
  • Working knowledge of legislated safety requirements, codes, standards and regulations
  • Knowledge and experience using proper body mechanics to meet the physical requirements for the job including lifting, bending, prolonged positioning, standing, walking ladder climbing, and overhead work
  • Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking, troubleshooting and decisionmaking skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexible, selfdirected and able to work safely and effectively with mínimal supervision
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset
  • Strong clientservice orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
  • Basic understanding of computers (Windows and Microsoft Office programs, site CMMS program (i.e. work order software))
