Description

As a key member of the OMERS Investment Finance, G&A team, you will be responsible for providing financial services including but not limited to financial statements, period close, reconciliations, tax compliance, management reporting, ad hoc reporting and customer support to the OMERS Private Markets team in a timely and accurate manner.


The position reports to the Senior Manager, Investment Finance and will coordinate deliverables across a team of 2, as required.

The position will deal with all levels of the organization ensuring that processes meet the highest accounting and control standards.

In addition, the position will ensure information prepared for the financial statements and regulatory monitoring is complete, accurate and consistent.

Please note this is a 15 month contract position.


As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Managing the period end close
Reviewing annual/quarterly financial statements
Reviewing regulatory filings
Identifying, interpreting and analyzing accounting risks and issues
Monitoring ongoing analysis of billed and unbilled intercompany and portfolio company recharges
Reviewing quarterly internal management reports
Reviewing/ preparing quarterly reporting to OMERS
Creating ad hoc reports and provide analysis on various corporate expenses using advanced technical excel skills
Reviewing/ filing Value Added Tax filings for Canada, UK and Australia
Reviewing and managing third party billings
Assisting in refinement of internal management reporting
Co-ordinating audit of foreign subsidiaries
Participating in continuous process improvement initiatives
Acting as a thought partner to the larger Finance team at OMERS
Providing leadership, coaching and direction to the Investment Finance team on day-to-day operations.


To succeed in this role, you have:
University degree in accounting or business
Completion of CPA designation
Have experience working in a shared services environment serving multiple business units (preferred)
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Are an experienced and effective people leader with ability to lead and promote change
Are able to work effectively across organizational lines and promotes an effective team-based environment with employees and management at all levels across the organization
Have analytical skills and attention to detail - ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing financial information
Have prioritizing and organizing skills - balancing time across different priorities
Possess strong customer service orientation - understanding and acting upon differing needs of diverse stakeholders
Are adaptable - able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
Have advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
