Job profile:


The purpose of this role is to support the Global Markets line of business' ability to execute the 1st line of defense accountability for portfolio and risk management activities, and for the efficient functioning of the LOB.

As an integral part of the team, the Capital Markets Business Analyst, assists the Fund Manager and Hedge Fund Corporate Bankers by taking responsibility for the operation of certain key business processes, and by responding effectively to customer and banker requests.

Responsibilities include operational functions such as client on-boarding, AML/KYC, and portfolio monitoring and maintenance activities.


AML/UEN/Client On-boarding Requests

  • Initiate UEN (Universal Entity Number) requests for new counter party set‐up.
  • Share new client/new product information and interface with the Client Onboarding (COB) group as well as various systems teams.
  • Initial review of AML/KYC checklists, track changes and coordinate completion of annual reviews. BA will review AML analyst changes and ensure checklist is correct before sending to banker for approval.

Portfolio Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Monitor and track monthly, quarterly, and semi‐annual covenant and trigger processes for on time completion. Print status report mid‐month and communicate with Bankers in advance of 30day grace period.
  • Record legal documentation and compliance exceptions with Banker and client.
  • Maintain proprietary Hedge Fund database used for trigger monitoring.
  • Complete other portfolio monitoring (e.g. track receipt of CE/CBR approvals post final forming of CAF, track rating alert due dates, etc.) as required by Fund Manager and Hedge Fund Corporate Banking teams.
  • Special projects as needed (i.e. remediation and other oneoff requests).

Credit Approval Support Functions

  • Other duties (eg. relevant industry data) as required.

Risk Management & Control

  • Within the mandate of this role, promote, adhere and support the Bank's risk culture; lead by example.
  • Within the mandate of this role, maintain internal controls to support management decision‐making that protects our assets and adheres to applicable corporate policies, operating directives, laws and regulations (including risk, compliance, and AML).

Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent post‐secondary diploma.
  • General knowledge of Trading Products and Asset Manager/Fund universe a plus.
