Position Summary


The
Production Supervisor shall ensure that products are produced while meeting the production schedule, product quality, packaging and safety requirements of the company.

This includes employee scheduling, liaising with all departments including production scheduling, shipping and maintenance.

The incumbent is also responsible for completing the daily production schedule, ensuring full compliance with Bailey's H&S program, scheduling and overseeing employee training, maintaining plant housekeeping, supporting all continuous improvement efforts and, fulfilling customer quality and delivery requirements.


What you'll do:


  • Supervise and schedule daily activities of fulltime associates to ensure orders can be completed meeting customers & interdepartmental requirements.
  • Conduct and document daily workplace walks; inspect product quality; observe for unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; and resolve workers and safety concerns and problems.
  • Oversee all equipment setups and troubleshoot quality and machine problems.
  • Ensure that systems/equipment operate safely, efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor plant supply production and shipping materials. Place orders, when necessary, within approved spending limits or recommend necessary purchases for management approval.
  • Identify and implement work measures to improve work methods, products, productivity, safety, and quality of products. Monitor KPI and measures for record keeping accuracy.
  • Review all reports as assigned and take corrective actions as required.
  • Coordinate inplant training, safety and continuous programs recommended by the Plant Manager and Director of BC Operations.
  • Monitor coil inventory levels and quarantine coils that do not comply with our quality standards, and report to Plant Manager accordingly.
  • Participate in the company's inventory count.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects integrity and respect towards customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates and other key stakeholders of the company.
  • HR tasks including but not limited to reviewing all work performed by production employees, conduct and oversee all on the job training and all documentation for new or existing employees, promote teamwork across all work areas and departments, and participate in recruitment, performance review and disciplinary processes.
  • Health and Safety tasks including but not limited to maintaining knowledge of and supporting all BMP Health & Safety Policies/Programs and OHSA Regulations, correct and communicate on any unsafe acts/conditions to Plant Manager, performing workplace inspections (scheduled and unscheduled), conduct regular safety talks with employees, and report all accidents/incidents promptly along with conducting investigations and acting on recommendations.
  • Participate as an active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Complete all other work as assigned and provide all other assistance as required by management.

What you'll need:


  • 10+ years of supervisory experience, with excellent knowledge of metal processing and slitting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LEAN manufacturing with previous experience is a definite asset.
  • Sound knowledge of OH&SA regulations.
  • Preferred postsecondary education, proficient speaking and writing English
  • Personal attributes include ethical, communicative, coaching, openminded, observant and tenacious.
  • Quick learner, Team Player with initiative and capable of meeting deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • Mondays to Thursdays, 2:30pm12:30am (10hr shift)
  • Fastpaced plant environment.
  • Overtime as required.
