Communications Coordinator - Vancouver, Canada - Mission Possible

Position Type:
- Part-Time, 816 hours per week
- Temporary: 23 months depending on start date, with potential to extend
Compensation:
- $22.11 per hour
Job Summary:
- The Communications Coordinator will work directly with the Development Team to meet the external communication needs of Mission Possible. This position will primarily be focused on Mission Possible's social media account management, as well as copywriting, interviews for blog and reports, event support, and general fundraising and marketing support for the Development Team.
Working Conditions:
- This role is teambased. The Communications Coordinator will be supervised by the Director of Partnerships, and will work closely with the Development Coordinator, Grants and Fundraising Coordinator, and other Mission Possible staff. They will interact with donors of all levels, volunteers, program participants, and other supporters of our organization. Much work will take place in the Mission Possible office, and require a great deal of multitasking, efficiency, and flexibility. Some offsite or after hours work may occur, including events, external meetings, and donation pickups.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Social Media Management via Hootsuite ensuring that 34 posts are scheduled weekly
- Content collection as needed, such as attending and taking photos at associate graduation lunches, and other Mission Possible events
- Interview past and present program participants and write stories for marketing and awareness collateral
- Provide administrative and logístical support to the planning of fundraising events as needed
- Other tasks as assigned by the Development Team
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Superior organizational skills and an astute attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and balance a varied workload
- A professional and outgoing manner and ability to interact respectfully with all individuals
- The ability to work well within a team environment but also independently
- Schedule flexibility to accommodate for meetings and events on evenings and weekends as needed
- Graphic design experience an asset
Education and Experience:
- Experience working in nonprofit environment, fundraising and/or communications an asset
- Experience working in the Downtown Eastside community is an asset
- Relevant postsecondary education Diploma or postsecondary degree in a related field (e.g. communications, marketing, fundraising, nonprofit) is an asset
- Valid Driver's License an asset
- Or the equivalent combination of related skills and experience
