Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring maximum operational potential is achieved for FGL Sports Mississauga.

The Team Lead with the Maintenance Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department fostering on a reliability-centered mindset for all systems necessary for a safe and efficient distribution center.

This Coordinator works to ensure material handling equipment repairs are maintained and executed per plan across the maintenance shifts.

The coordinator also provides current performance characteristics of all operational equipment to assist in repair/replace optioning and provides long-term outlook/strategy for building services upkeep and upgrades.


The incumbent will keep the Maintenance Manager informed of the major issues and activities but due to the nature of the department may have to make independent decisions and take actions in order to accomplish the objectives.

They will also ensure Canadian Tire's principles, guidelines and standards where defined are adhered followed.


What you'll do:


  • Manages and directs activities of maintenance staff in all areas of the building. Trains team members in their assignments. Facilitates professional development by conducting onthejob training, performance appraisals etc. Responsible for recommending and assisting in the development of training curricula.
  • Directs repair of all equipment, machinery, electrical and power systems, and building and building systems to ensure uninterrupted services and operations. Serves as mentor and technical resource for technician troubleshooting and work methods.
  • Responsible for scheduling and assignments of work. The daily managing of staff needs and reinforcing Team Members' safety compliance with Federal standards
  • Observes and coaches to maintain high standards of technician work methods. Addresses team member concerns, communicates essential information, and enforces distribution center policy guidelines.
  • Develops reviews and recommends methods of operational improvement within their function area involving equipment, conveyor systems, activities and practices within their area's responsibility.
  • Ensures compliance of business needs with all outsourced services and contractors to achieve vendor compliance.

- and post-maintenance schedule review meetings

  • Assist with the identification of root causes following equipment failures and development of new maintenance various efficiencies
  • Provide focus for all shifts to outstanding Material handling equipment carryover issues and repairs, and improvement initiatives
  • Keep Manager updated on building fabric and proactive repair issues; ensure building preventive maintenance supports extended facility life and lower repair costs through applicable PM, scheduled building audits, etc. as required.
  • Communicate to oncoming shift Coordinator or designate carry over problems that will require completion for mobile equipment and building services
  • Ensure that workin progress and completed work meets the standards established by the Maintenance Department
  • Monitor production requirements during shift to meet operational requirements
  • Provide direction, leadership and problemsolving guidance to employees
  • Develop responsibility amongst employees
  • Identify training requirements, support employee review process, coaching sessions and disciplinary sessions as appropriate, administer company policies and procedures
  • Actively seek and promote the implementation of new ideas/solutions by Trades team to improve equipment and Maintenance operations, safety, productivity, efficiency, etc.
  • Ensure team members log all relevant work order details for scheduled/unscheduled work in CMMS System

What you'll bring:


  • Post-Secondary education along with a Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent to industry standards licensed tradesperson with related experience
  • Must have 5+ years of supervisory experience in a similar environment
  • 10 years in maintenance trade's role (Industrial Electrician, Industrial Mechanic, Powered Lift Truck Technician)
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with proven experience in motivating, mentoring and developing Team Members
