Your opportunity:


Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Project Coordinator will be part of a vibrant and agile team and help coordinate activities and operations for the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Sustainability Transitions.

The Research Project Coordinator will be crucial in a research program that will partner with marginalized communities in Toronto and other cities globally to catalyze the development of community-engaged and context-relevant approaches to just and equitable sustainability transitions.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Fostering positive relationships with project partners
  • Scheduling daytoday project activities
  • Drafting summaries of research project results for project leader's review
  • Drafting and submitting documented procedures to the Research Ethics Board (REB) for approval
  • Synthesizing technical, qualitative and contextual research data
  • Determining qualitative and/or quantitative research methods according to research objectives
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of manuscripts

Essential Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree in a related field (i.e., urban planning or sociology) or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related work experience in a research co production environment.
  • Demonstrated research project coordination experience facilitating knowledge co production activities and demonstrated ability to navigate and develop relationships with partners across multiple organizations.
  • Experience coordinating communityguided research projects and implementing qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection, interpretation, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience fostering positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including community and city partners.
  • Experience working with people from equitydeserving populations or people with disabilities is essential.
  • Proficient academic writing skills (e.g. protocol development, grant writing, manuscript development, poster, and abstract development).
  • Strong research and analytical skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) with an ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problemsolving skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with literature reviews and syntheses.

Assets (Nonessential):


  • A Ph.
D. in a related field (i.e., urban planning or sociology) would be considered an asset.

  • Proficiency with qualitative software and coding (e.g., MAXQDA).
  • Proficiency with modelling software (e.g., fuzzy cognitive maps).
  • Experience with fieldwork in remote places.
