Position Summary

The Property Assessor plays an integral role in the process of collecting and recording property data for assessment and taxation purposes.

This process includes the annual maintenance process of inspecting and recording all changes made to properties, including new construction, additions, renovations, and demolitions, and responding to property owner inquiries regarding the accuracy of their property assessment data.

Also included are special projects to review the accuracy of data on existing properties that require inspection or to collect additional data in support of the valuation modelling process.

Duties & Responsibilities


To be Qualified:


Completion of a 2 year Post secondary Diploma or bachelor's degree in economics or commerce, supplemented with the first or second level of the Appraisal Institute of Canada's courses OR graduation from a two-year post-secondary Real Property Assessment Certificate Program.

A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the property assessment field or a mass appraisal environment.


- Note: Testing may be done to evaluate knowledge, skills and abilities.
