Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager - Transportation, the STOPR Financial Officer is responsible for managing the $80M annual departmental budget, preparing, developing and presenting financial reports, manage the preparation, review and analysis and presentation of annual budgets; providing analysis, identifying risks, variances, cost saving opportunities and supporting decision making; overseeing the processing of vendor invoices and monitoring the status of payments through Financial Information System (FIS); preparing monthly operator spreadsheets on contract costs for invoice submission, reconciling monthly, and administration of Bus Operator penalties as per contracts.


Key Responsibilities
As STOPR Financial Officer you will be also be responsible for determining different budget codes between Peel District School Board (PDSB) and Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) and administrative operating costs and contract costs for home to school service
- creating budget business cases and purchase orders and submitting budget inquiries for both PDSB an DPCDSB
- preparing cost breakdowns by board, program, bell time and route costing; providing all costing requirement for annual Ministry survey including but not limited to, individual route costs and Professional Activity day costs
- developing standard operating procedures and continuous improvements of financial processes; managing monthly financial reporting.

  • In addition, you will be responsible for supervising the Financial Clerk and directing work activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must hold one (1) of the following Professional Accounting designations: Chartered Professional Account (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of finance or consortium finance experience
  • Demonstrated effective coordination, planning, decision making and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent organization skills, analytical skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising a team
  • Good understanding of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code
  • Knowledge of the education sector
  • Understanding of the Ministry of Education's funding formula
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, antiracism, antioppression and working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
