We are looking for a PSYCHIATRIST (1st Step Program)

Part-time opportunity (21 hours/3 days per week) located in Kitchener/Waterloo, ON.

The Psychiatrist will provide direct and indirect psychiatric services to CMHA WW 1st Step Program clients.

1st Step is an Early Psychosis Intervention Program, offering assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. It is a recovery-oriented, evidence-based best practice with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians monitoring clients during their first episode of psychosis in a specific catchment area, enhancing opportunities for recovery and rehabilitation.

Operating within a team-based model, the Psychiatrist will evaluate and treat individuals in line with EPION standards who are undergoing psychosis. Collaborative work in a team-based care model, involving community partners and primary care, is essential.

Additional Information:

Interest in actively supporting educational activities and an academic teaching appointment is beneficial.
Hybrid model of in-person and virtual service delivery utilized by CMHA WW.
Remuneration includes a mix of fee for service and sessional fees, eliminating overhead costs. This presents a competitive earning potential.

Requirements:

FRCP(C) in Psychiatry and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
Experience in psychiatric specialties (adult psychiatry, addictions, serious and persistent mental illness)
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to community-based services
Understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
Strong organizational, communication, and problemsolving skills
Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, and various database software
Valid driver's license and personal transportation
