Description

Reporting to the Manager of Track Protection, the Track Protection Foreman is responsible for managing, coordinating, and directing a crew of workers/contractors.

This is so they can safely, and successfully complete any project by meeting or exceeding corporate goals. The Track Protection Foreman must ensure safety, quality, profitability, and scheduling, resulting in project success, and customer satisfaction.

The Track Protection Foreman is also responsible for ensuring the effective communication of the rail safety rules (all applicable legislation) associated with the planned work.

In the rail industry, a Track Protection Foreman is often seen as the "face", and the "voice" of the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Review all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications and scope of work.
  • Preplan work tasks with Track Protection Manager to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans.
  • Plan the daily operations on the assigned project and ensure that appropriate and adequate resources are in place for the completion of work (labor, equipment, and material).
  • Responsible for working group performance in terms of the business objectives, safety audits, administration of company policies and procedures (including compliance with applicable legislation and operating rules).
  • Conduct tailgate discussions/meetings (including safety talks). Initiate followup activities as required.
  • Conduct job briefings with many site visitors (including clients), working groups, and review production goals, performance feedback, safety hazards, coaching & mentoring peers/workers.
  • Maintaining an adequate level of compliance in terms of safe work practices, company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel (operational readiness).
  • Communicate with the Project Manager, General Contractor and customer to ensure the successful completion of the project, and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with subcontractors to coordinate objectives.
  • Perform a variety of related administrative tasks such as production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders, and updating project files.
  • Perform other related administrative or projectbased duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:


  • Strong leadership, supervisory skills, with an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Organize, develop, and communicate schedules and goals to various crew members.
  • Professionalism, strong customer relations skills.
  • Perform physical work in a field environment including bending, lifting.
  • Safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Excellent vision and hearing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Lead a team and motivate workers.
  • Use sound judgment and give clear and concise direction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Valid Class G Driver's license or equivalent (other valid driver qualifications, higher than G Class are an asset)
  • High School Diploma is an asset.
  • 2 years of Railway experience is an asset but not required (we will provide training).
  • Valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) Certificate is preferred but not required (we will provide training resource).
  • Training in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR), First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space are an asset, but not required, (we will provided training resource).
  • Strong leadership, team, and supervisory skills.

IMPORTANT NOTES:


  • This job can at times, require you to travel throughout Ontario, and or Canada for extended periods of time the company will generally maintain manpower relatively local.
  • This job will require working in all types of weather conditions.
  • The job can be physically demanding at times and require one to lift/move heavier loads (often with the assistance of team members).

$32.00-$42.00 per hour
