  • Leads the Variations process in full compliance with the Project Agreement requirements including negotiations with the contractor
  • Coordinates with the broader project team to obtain required input into Variation process
  • Reports to management on the Variations' progress and budget utilization
  • Coordinates the evaluation of Variations and associated costs estimates.
  • Produces Variations and change control documentation suitable for management approval
  • Able to assess and validate contractor's payment requests
  • Checks own work, coordinates work with related disciplines.
  • Takes responsibility for their portion of the discipline's scope, schedule and budget.
  • Ability to support work for/in other offices (including Temporary Duty-TDY).
  • Works in coordination with the commercial team to communicate intermediate deadlines and documentation requirements.
  • Interacts with Design Managers and Discipline Leads for definition of Variation scope and resolution of design comments.
  • Develops awareness of the overall project's scope, schedule and budget.

Here's what you'll need:


  • BS or MS graduate of an engineering discipline with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with AFP project delivery model
  • Experience in transit infrastructure construction an asset
  • Experience in contracts management
  • Commercially astute
  • Effectively and positively influence Client and Stakeholder team members to ensure compliance with the variation and the payment mechanism processes as set out in the Project Agreement
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
