Position Summary


A lab manager position is available under the Neuron to Brain Laboratory at the Krembil Discovery Tower University Health Network (UHN).

Neuron to Brain Lab is comprised of both basic and clinical research teams that use electrophysiological methods to investigate, in human and/or mouse brain, the mechanisms of seizure initiation and the imbalance between inhibition and excitation in cellular networks caused by epilepsy and seizure.

Krembil Discovery Tower is also one of the largest research institutes in Canada focusing on human neurological disease from both a basic science and clinical research perspective.


Duties

Qualifications

  • Masters, or recognized equivalent, in a health or science related discipline
  • At minimum, 5 years clinical and/or professional experience, and at least 3 years clinical research experience and 23 years supervisory/management experience
  • Excellent Human resource management skills required.
  • Experience in research program outcome analysis
  • Experience in the development and writing business operation plans as well as grant writing
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to manage tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to express complex technical concepts effectively
  • Welldeveloped leadership, listening and conflict resolution skills
  • Interacts frequently with both internal and external contacts to provide guidance and advice on clinical research or other related issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills, customer relations and ability to act with discretion
  • Excellent problem recognition and solving abilities
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple priority projects and timelines efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines required.
  • Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
