About the faculty/service:

Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation:

The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation sets the strategic direction and oversees the administration of the University of Ottawa's research enterprise, including funding, equipment and facilities, international collaborations, partnerships and business development.


International Research and Experiential Learning (IREX) is a newly created unit of the Office of the Vice-President Research and Innovation (OVPRI) resulting from the merger of the Office of International Research and the Centre for Research Opportunities.

Its mandate consists in supporting the University of Ottawa researchers to address pressing and complex challenges facing the world in collaboration with leading national and international partners.

Considering the needs and desires of a broad range of constituencies, the overarching aims of IREX consist in i) serving the research community, ii) ensuring compliance, and iii) creating partnerships of global significance.


Position purpose:


In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Advisory Services and Research Support:

Provides researchers with expert advice and professional support in the development of research contracts and agreements and assists in the process.


Liaison and Guidance:

Liaises between researchers, research advisors from faculties and Research Management Services and funding agencies to ensure that all parties possess the information they need to optimize the efficiency of the approval process.


Operations:

Analyzes and interprets terms and conditions of international research contracts and resolves complex and problematic administrative issues in a timely manner.


Researching Opportunities and Networking:

Works with Research Management Services to identify and keep track of contract-funding opportunities, and to ensure that faculty researchers are aware of the opportunities most relevant to them.


What you will bring:


Knowledge and experience in theories and practices of business management normally acquired through a Master's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Practical experience in reviewing and negotiating research contracts and agreements

Expert knowledge of national and international agencies, foundations and programs

Knowledge of research support and academia an asset

Project management experience

Strong analytical skills

Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills

Demonstrated ability to create, maintain and build relationships and partnerships within the University and externally

Experience in analysis and problem-solving

Excellent bilingual writing skills

Ability to handle competing priorities and meet strict deadlines

Experience developing and delivering workshops

Bilingualism - English and French (spoken and written)
