This is a casual on-call position in CUPE 917. Varied hours, varied days. Rate of pay is $24.42 per hour.

Food Safe level 1 is required.

  • Job SummaryAssists in the preparation of food. Washes, cleans, and prepares vegetables, fruit for cooking and salad use. Mixes juices as assigned. Portions desserts and prepares sandwich fillings as directed. Sets and clears dining room tables and arranges them to meet user requirements. Transports food, supplies and equipment to and from kitchen, dining areas, storerooms and refrigerators. Readies and refills drink dispensers and stocks condiments and food in serving areas. Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment. Dispenses food and beverages to customers. Waits on tables when required. Cleans work areas, equipment and fixtures. Prepares soiled dishes and cutlery for dishwashing machine. Stacks and sorts clean dishes and cutlery. Performs laundry duties and other related work as required.
  • Job RequirementsMust be able to read, write, understand and speak English. Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately and work in an organized manner. Knowledge of kitchen and dining room work, personal hygiene standards, effective sanitation and housekeeping practices, operation of standard kitchen appliances and equipment gained by working in a food services environment. Ability to work compatibly with staff and communicate effectively with clientele. Ability to learn routines related to food service and assisting in food preparation and cleanup. Good physical health; must be prepared to take a medical examination. May require Serving It Right Certification by the British Columbia Liquor Control Board, depending on work assignment.
