Part Time Cook - Richmond, Canada - The Salvation Army

HOURS:
Monday & Tuesday - 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM

The cook is responsible to provide quality food according to the approved menu, follow safety, hygiene, and nutrition standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu designed to meet the needs of up to 10 residents while ensuring that the meals are nutritious and satisfying. Plans and prepares special diets or special event meals in consultation with care professionals and other staff.
- Prepares and cooks lunch and dinner and other sustenance items using safe food handling and preparation procedures and safety and health standards.
- Responsible for the assisting with the purchasing and ordering of food items necessary for the preparation of meals. Ensures that purchases are within approved budget limits and ensures that inventories of food and other related items are maintained. Maintains good relationships with service and food/equipment providers.
- Reports any equipment maintenance needs. Duties may involve light maintenance (i.e., cleaning of equipment, basic sanitation, etc.).
- Provides caring environment to residents and families.
- Ensures all kitchen documentation is accurate and complete. Maintains strict confidentiality of information.
- Participates in workrelated conferences and seminars in order to gather knowledge of trends and initiatives.
- Fosters positive relationships with and between families and staff members.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Education requirements:
- *NOTE: For some jobs, you may be required to provide validated educational documentation._
Education/Certifications:
- WHMIS
- FoodSafe Level 1 Certification are required.
- At least oneyear previous experience as a cook. Experience of hospice environment is an asset.
- Postsecondary education in culinary arts from a recognized educational establishment is preferred.
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated interpersonal, teamwork and organization skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to operate related equipment
Experience:
- One year experience as a cook, experience of ordering food and associated supplies.
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- TB Test
Job Type:
Part-time
Part-time hours: 15 per week
Salary:
$19.65 per hour

- Richmond, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
