Scope
Responsibilities:
Implement all aspects of shade tree management including, planting, pruning, pest management, base maintenance, root management and tree risk assessments.
Preparation of schedules, inspections and reports related to the delivery of projects and programs.
Perform hands on field work in all weather conditions.
Prepare annual and seasonal work plans for assigned functional responsibility area, based on section goals and objectives and within approved budgets.
Develop and implement new work methods and techniques.Review development plans and provide recommendations.
Develop asset-based management prescriptions, including preventative maintenance programs.
Implement and practice safety-related policies, procedures and regulations and perform fieldwork in accordance with accepted standards, techniques, and practices.
Respond to service requests from the public.
The successful applicant:
Can work independently, as well as in a team environment, and must be physically able to carry out the duties as required;
Is a logical and analytically thinker in problem-solving situations.
Has superior public relations, interpersonal, communication, organizational, multitasking and leadership skills.
Has strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Has a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, standards, guidelines, and materials used in arboriculture work.
Qualifications:
Completion of a Diploma program from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a minimum of 3 years related experience, OR
Completion of grade 12 supplemented by a relevant Trades Qualification supplemented by 3 years of related progressive experience, OR
Completion of grade 12 and a related Technical Certificate Program (one-year full time) from a recognized post-secondary institution with additional related academic courses and training including at least 1 credit course in each of supervision and technical writing supplemented by 4 years of related progressive experience.
An acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.In addition:
You must have a valid B.C. driver's license with a safe driving history.
An Arborist certification (International Society of Arboriculture) and a Pesticide Applicator's License are required to be obtained before the completion of probation period.

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
