Job Summary

  • Dalhousie University, under the leadership of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, administers over $200M annually in research and innovation funding. Under the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE), as part of Dal Innovates, and reporting to the Associate Director Commercialization and Start-Ups, the Project Manager, Lab2Market implements and manages the Lab2Market Discover program and supports senior program managers to plan, execute and deliver the Lab2Market Validate and Launch programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Lab2Market Discover program from recruitment to postprogram team engagement, including but not limited to budget development and management, project management, and workflow assignment to team members.
  • Provide workshop session facilitation and moderation, and participant checkins and support as well as lab crawl planning and management for program recruitment.
  • Set up and manage software platforms for programs. Develop staff training series to fill the gaps in using relational databases (e.g. Airtable).
  • Develop a data governance strategy in collaboration with Associate Director. Lead data collection, management, evaluation and reporting including postprogram surveys.
  • Colead alumni engagement projects with the Ecosystem Manager. Engage with Dalhousie Sandboxes including development of joint programming, events, and recruitment of participants for Dal Innovates programming.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.


Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in an applied field such as life sciences, computer science or engineering plus three to five years' experience in business and project management (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Experience in program lifecycle and project management across multiple sites and stakeholders including budgeting.
  • Experience with customer discovery; business model development and validation; and startup methodologies including Lean, and Disciplined Entrepreneurship.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills as well as experience in stakeholder engagement, contracting and vendor management, working with industry startups, executives, and investors, and providing coaching or mentorship to students.
