Position Summary


Under the supervision and guidance of the Research Director and Program Manager (as well as Principal Investigators and Research Coordinators), the role of the Clinical Research Assistant is to provide support for several ongoing projects led by the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine's PEAK Research Team in conjunction with the Stollery Children's Hospital Emergency Department (ED).

The Research Assistant will screen and approach families in the Stollery ED, administer study procedures and collect study samples, complete study specific documentation, and support quality improvement and knowledge mobilization initiatives.


_ Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends is required. Recruitment hours are 3-11pm 7 days per week._

Duties

  • Identify potential participants through the electronic medical record system (Connect Care), interactions with pertinent health care staff, and chart reviews as required
  • Collect, process and deliver biological samples to related study laboratories and perform clinical related study procedures Enter collected data into the appropriate electronic databases (i.e., REDCap)
  • Conducts daily aspects of studies according to defined study protocols and maintains study specific source documents
  • Reviews, becomes knowledgeable about, and adheres to multiple research protocols according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines Coordinates with various health professionals in the Stollery Emergency Department, including research nurses and volunteers
  • Attends studyrelated training and meetings as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current enrolment in, or completion of, a postsecondary program
  • Computer and iPad proficiency is required
  • Ability to work efficiently in a professional and ethical manner in accordance with University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year related experience in a clinical research environment, healthcare, or work with families/children is an asset
