POSITION:

REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE
Day Surgery & Pre-Admit Screening

Primary Site:
Stratford/Clinton

Casual x2

REPORTS TO:
Manager, Surgical Services

DATE REQUIRED:
As soon as possible

SALARY:
$29.98 to $31.79 per hour

REQUIREMENTS:

Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years recent nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred with the ability to work to full scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
Experience in Surgical nursing preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent physical assessment skills
Recent Cardiac Arrhythmia course (current experience)
BLS
Completion of IV Therapy course
Completion of IV Start course
Skilled in Medication Administration all routes
Flushing of PRN adaptors
Insertion & maintenance of foley catheter
Wound care
Demonstrated ability to prepare patients for surgery accurately and efficiently
Ability to plan, organize and exercise effective decision making
Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and function both independently and interdependently with the interprofessional care team
Welldeveloped verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with patients, caregivers and families
Evidence of ongoing professional development and continuing education
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
